Vice President, Alternative Distribution

WoodmenLife is seeking a Head of Alternative Distribution to expand it’s market reach and community impact nationally by building new insurance and retirement products with strategic distribution partners by leveraging internal and external resources to go to market and manage the customer and distributor experience. The Head of Alternative Distribution will lead the sales growth strategy in Alternative Distribution by identifying, evaluating, and selecting new product and distribution opportunities that align with WoodmenLife’s mission, vision, and values. This distribution leader has a strong understanding of insurance distribution through independent and third-party channels, with experience building products with distribution partners. This role will collaborate with leaders at all levels of WoodmenLife and report directly to the EVP and CMO.

Position Overview



Responsibilities
  • Create and implement the Alternative Distribution strategy to increase speed to market of new products offered via third-party distributors to increase the membership base significantly.
  • Identify, evaluate, and determine which third-party distributors will be part of the Alternative Distribution channel.
  • Construct and present business case analyses for new product opportunities, leveraging internal and external resources to implement and execute. 
  • Serve as a key adviser to the WoodmenLife executive team and Board of Directors on third-party distribution and product opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the Career Agency channel to enable the Alternative Distribution products to be offered to their customers.
  • Assist in driving the successful end-to-end operation of the business by overseeing third-party administrator services and technology vendor selection, implementation, and performance for the Alternative Distribution channel.
  • Oversee distribution partner contracting, onboarding, integration, launch and relationship management to ensure a successful partnership.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact and manage relationships with new and existing distribution partners.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of higher education. 
  • 10+ years of sales, marketing, and distribution experience with life insurance and annuity solutions.
  • Experience with distribution management and launching new products with distribution partners in the independent channel.
  • Deep understanding of the insurance and annuities industry and competitive landscape, customer expectations and product trends.
  • Operational and policy/contract value chain management knowledge.
  • Experience hiring, managing, and leading a team.
  • Willingness to travel 50% of the time.
